Where these prices come from
- Real receipts, not estimates.PouchBuddy users log the price of each can they buy and the store they bought it at. Other price-by-state tables start from the manufacturer's price and add tax; this one counts what people paid.
- Median, not average. One can bought at an airport cannot drag a whole state's figure up.
- Last 12 months only. Taxes and prices change, so older receipts drop out.
- A minimum number of people. 2 for a state and 3 for a country — different people, not different receipts, so one person buying a few cans at once cannot set a region's price on their own. Below that, the row says so instead of showing a number.
- Store prices on the map. Zoom in to see the stores where people bought a can and what it cost there, in the currency it was paid in. One receipt is enough for a store, so a pin never says who paid or on which day, only whether it was this week, this month, in the last three months or in the last year.
- As paid, in US dollars. Tax, promotions and multi-can deals are already in the price. Only prices reported in dollars are counted for now, so nothing is converted at a guessed exchange rate.
